False Diagnosis = mis-treatment

Out of 960 Lyme borreliosis patients with chronic symptoms, 707 had not been treated for the symptoms before – according to data from a Hungarian Lyme clinic. The patients were diagnosed with other disorders, e.g. autoimmune, rheumatologic, neurologic or psychiatric diseases.

Treatment schedule

The diagnosis and treatment of Lyme borreliosis is a subject with long debates and rare conclusions so far. The data confirm the importance of an early and exact diagnosis. Missing out on an early treatment may cause the disease to get more serious, the symptoms more disseminated, or the state to become chronic.

The availability of a single, reliable screening test would make it possible to provide earlier treatment.
